Code of Conduct

The mission of Dallas Anime Meetup (DAM) is to create a welcoming and safe space that provides opportunities for interaction between fans of Japanese animation.

Community

DAM is dedicated to providing a harassment-free community for everyone, regardless of sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, age, body size, race, nationality, or religious beliefs. We do not tolerate harassment of community members in any form. Participants violating these rules may be expelled from the community at the discretion of the DAM organizers.

Harassment includes offensive verbal or written comments related to sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, age, body size, race, nationality, or religious beliefs in-person or on any of DAM’s social media platforms (Meetup, Discord, Facebook, etc.), deliberate intimidation, threats, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Community members asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a community member engages in harassing behavior, the DAM organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the DAM community. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a DAM organizer immediately via Discord or Meetup. Please also report the offending member on Meetup.

DAM rules extend to members of the public. Community event venues may be shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all patrons of these locations. There may be events where alcohol is available; members are expected to know their limits and be respectful of the venue, otherwise they will be asked to leave the event. DAM members are required to follow local drinking laws.

Popular DAM events may have waitlists. Community members may be turned away from events if they waitlisted at the event host’s discretion. Additionally, DAM organizers may temporarily ban community members from waitlisted events if they have no-showed at least three times previously. Please speak to a DAM organizer if you feel you have been unfairly banned.

Advertising

DAM does not support the advertisement of sites and sources unrelated to anime in-person or on any of its social media platforms. If you would like to advertise or solicit the community for something anime-related, you are required to receive permission in advance from a DAM organizer.

If you have questions or feedback about this Code of Conduct please contact one of the organizers.

Please refer to Meetup’s Policies and Community Guidelines for additional guidelines.
